Airbnb Interior Design on the Gold Coast: Guest-Ready, Not Generic

A Gold Coast Airbnb has a specific job. Guests need to know where to sleep, where to work, and that someone considered the place. Hosts need furniture that flexes — a sofa bed that does not look like a compromise, a table that folds, a bathroom that photographs clean and feels it.

Hotel-generic is easy. A leftover surf print and a furniture pack that could be anywhere will get you a listing. They will not make the place feel considered.

I am Meg Ritchie. I built The Interior Co so you could get a proper design concept without a traditional studio invoice. For hosts, that means a room that works for guests and still feels like a place you would book yourself.

What guests are actually booking

Short-stay guests on the Coast are buying a Saturday. Light, a clear run to the balcony, a bed that looks like rest, somewhere to put a laptop that is not the kitchen bench.

They are also booking the photos. The living room has to do sofa, sleep and a coffee table in one frame.

That is a cohesion problem, not a shopping problem. A mood board folder of screenshots will not tell you whether the sofa bed clears the walkway, or whether a teal cushion holds in Gold Coast afternoon light.

What we designed at Surfers

We designed a Surfers Paradise Mantra apartment for exactly this brief.

The living room had to sit and sleep. A proper sofa bed, teal and silver cushions, a patterned neutral rug, a coffee table that can move. A foldable table and a woven chair made a work nook that did not steal the room. Coastal artwork instead of leftover fittings. Soft greys with teal and silver in the living room, sage held for the bedroom, so the place photographed calm, not themed.

The bathroom had to clean easily and look like someone chose it. The balcony needed a reason to sit — morning coffee, not leftover plastic.

Same virtual process we use for a family living room in Hope Island or ocean-view living in Main Beach. Different brief. Guest-ready, not display-home-for-sale.

How a host brief is different

You are not emptying the personality out for buyers. You are deciding what a stranger can use in two nights without asking you.

That usually means:

  • one clear sleep story in every room that claims a bed
  • furniture that flexes (sofa bed, nest of tables, wall light instead of a lamp guests will knock)
  • a palette that photographs in Gold Coast light — soft, coastal, not souvenir
  • a bathroom and entry that look considered in the first six listing shots
  • a shopping list you can buy this month or before the next peak season

You do not need a renovation. You need a design you can finish at your own pace.

What $799 a room gets a host

A standard Design Concept is the package most hosts start with.

Design Concept — from $799 per room or space

  • free 15-minute discovery call
  • design brief, onsite or by phone
  • mood boards and a layout
  • two revisions
  • a full product purchase list

Standard virtual packages turn around in seven days or less. Then you shop when the booking calendar and the bank account allow. Replace the sofa bed this month, the lamp next, the art when you find the right one. The cohesion is already decided.

If you do not have time to shop — or you want it installed before December — Design & Full Procurement is the other path. We order (including wholesale discount), handle, store, deliver and install. Up to four revisions. Pricing is customised, because every procurement job is different.

If you want a rough number before we talk, try the Instant Estimator.

Why wait for a vacant week

You do not. The concept is virtual. We can brief from photos and measurements, or come onsite if that helps. You keep hosting while the boards are being drawn.

August into spring is when Gold Coast calendars start to fill for the warmer months. A design you can shop over a few weeks still lands before the busy stretch. A design you start in November is a January install.

What you walk away with

Mood boards you can hold up against your actual walls. A layout that respects how guests move through a small apartment. A shopping list with somewhere to buy each piece.

That is affordable elegance for a host. Not a showroom you cannot afford to finish. A place guests can picture themselves in.

If you want to see more of the work first, the project portfolio and our story are the place. When you are ready, book the discovery call, try the Instant Estimator, or send a note. Email works too: info@theinteriorco.com.au.

If you are preparing the property to sell rather than host, that is a staging conversation. Gold Coast Property Styling looks after that side.

FAQs

How much does Airbnb interior design cost on the Gold Coast?

A Design Concept starts from $799 per room or space. That includes the discovery call, brief, mood boards, two revisions and a full product list. Full procurement is customised.

How long does a virtual host design take?

Standard virtual packages turn around in seven days or less. Custom procurement takes longer — stock, storage and installation have their own timeline.

Do I have to buy everything before I can list?

No. The Design Concept is built for self-paced shopping. We decide the cohesion first. The purchases can follow your season.

Can you design a studio or a one-bed, not just a house?

Yes. The Surfers Paradise Mantra project was an apartment brief: sofa bed, work nook, bathroom, balcony. Same process. Tighter plan.
